Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Melrose Resources is one of the few pipeline contractors in the country with its own Horizontal Directional Drilling equipment and workforce. This allows the Company greater flexibility and control of the project schedule to meet the needs of the customer.

HDD is a safe and environmentally friendly way to construct pipelines with minimal surface disturbance not only in congested areas but also to preserve wetlands and other sensitive areas.

Some of the Company’s more complex drills have included a 1,000’ drill through shale, sand and gravel under the intersection of I-635 and I-75 in north Dallas in a highly congested area; and a 2,600’ drill across the Houston Ship Channel from GATX to Dynegy for a bundle composed of 1 – 4” and 2 – 16” lines.

Driver is a full service drilling contractor with the following in-house capabilities:

• Steering tool technicians
• CAD generated drawings
• Complete surveying capabilities
• GPS, total station, etc.
• Project design

Driver's state-of-the-art computer technology, well-maintained equipment and knowledgeable crews enables Driver to be one of the few pipeline contractors to also provide HDD services to its customers thereby eliminating another layer of costs and providing more fluid project coordination and scheduling in the field.
